Refurbishment and fit-out of an existing 65,000ft2 commercial facility for the relocation of the Engineering and Field Services departments including office accommodation and welfare facilities for 100 staff; electrical and mechanical workshops; laboratories, and hazardous/non-hazardous storage.

Gleeds led the requirements management process with effective stakeholder engagement activities to determine spatial, functional, manufacturing, systems engineering and business requirements. Without going straight to solutions, listening to the Client/end users to establish what was required, then define the capabilities to meet that need.

It was important to fully understand what was in scope and out of scope whilst establishing any dependencies, and continually manage expectations. The communication channels to capture the requirements were a series of workshops (lessons learned, discovery, prioritisation, design and critique), meetings and stage reporting for Client and QinetiQ Group Property approvals, namely the Strategic Brief (effectively the User Requirement Document) which supported the Business Case; Initial Project Brief which informed the Concept Designs, and Final Project Brief, intended to provide vision and direction for the Developed and Technical Designs, and Construction through to the In-use Phase.
