Both appointments will help guide Gleeds’ expansion strategy, which has seen the business’ market share overseas grow to half of its £180m turnover.

Louise joins Gleeds from Majestic Wine plc, where her role centred on improving employee engagement and retention across the company’s 1,250 UK and French based staff. Prior to this, she had amassed 18 years’ experience in human resources working for high profile retail brands such as Selfridges, The Dune Group and Thresher.

Commenting on her appointment, Louise said: “Gleeds is a business that really values quality relationships, both with its people and its clients. My aim is to help grow and support that special culture. Working alongside our people, my focus will be developing a work environment that is inclusive and delivers exactly what employees of the future want and need.”

John Newell joins Gleeds to support the development of the organisation’s competitive strategy. An engineer in the infrastructure and industrial sectors by background, John has 40 years’ experience of the industry and has worked with a number of well-known companies including AECOM, Atkins and Serco.

John said: “This is an exciting time for Gleeds, with staff numbers consistently rising and new offices opening across the globe. Having worked across a range of sectors and countries throughout my career, I’m looking forward to drawing on that experience to support the management board with their growth planning.”

Richard Steer, chairman of Gleeds Worldwide, added: “Both John and Louise bring a wealth of experience and insight to the business. We are currently on a steep growth curve so spotting, hiring and developing the right talent is hugely important. Their input will be invaluable as we move forward.”
