The project, which stems from a £30 million deal between Coventry University and FEV, involves the construction of four state-of-the-art powertrain test cells. These cells will allow research to be conducted on a range of different sustainable powertrain concepts.

Ranked Britain’s top modern university by both the Guardian Good University Guide and the Complete University Guide, Coventry’s 20 acre Technology Park is the embodiment of its strong track record of automotive engineering excellence.

Gleeds is providing cost and project management services for the scheme and has been supporting Coventry University’s estates development team as part of its Estates Consultancy Framework for the past two years.

Gary Church, director of higher education at Gleeds, commented: “This ground-breaking project will see the creation of a futuristic building that has the potential to play a massive role in developing cleaner transport technologies. As an organisation we are honoured to be working alongside Coventry University and FEV on this innovative development and believe it will only help to enhance the Midlands’ profile as the economic and development hub for advanced manufacturing.”

Construction is due to complete by December 2018.
